we don't do summer sales boys

So today was that Sunday when the summer sales boys start showing up in your singles ward. Awesome. Not. After church I went to dinner at Megan's (who lives in my complex) and Emily pointed out this piece of gold: a car with a U of U license plate and if you look closely a Pinacle sticker on the back window. Seriously? They live in my complex? I hope they take over the pool area (with all the ridiculous girls they no doubt plan to collect) and ruin my summer dreams of a ridiculous amount of pool and hot tub time. For heaven's sake.

happy 4/20

Here are some cookies I helped my sister make for some of her friends. She ordered this special shaped cookie cutter from Stonerware awhile ago in anticipation of the upcoming April "holiday."
We used our mom's favorite butter cookie recipe (so delicious) and made green glaze as the leaves would have been awfully hard to frost with regular frosting. Here is the cookie recipe:
  • 1 C butter
  • 1 1/2 C powdered sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 t vanilla
  • 2 1/2 C flour
  • 1 t baking soda
  • 1 t cream of tartar
  • 1/4 t salt

Mix all ingredients together then roll and cut out. Bake at 375 until edges barely begin to brown (about 5-6 minutes, watch carefully as these babies will burn and they do not taste good toasty).

What a great BYU-appropriate way to celebrate a favorite Oregon tradition. I love being from the northwest. I also really loved the cookie cutter packaging. "Cookies are better baked" and "Sooner or later you're gonna have the munchies" were two tag lines on the packaging.

how do you feel about man jewelry?

I pretty much hate it. This beauty was hanging on the pew in front of me in my parents' ward today. I like his cuff links, but the bracelet and and chunky ring are simply awful. I know the picture isn't great, but it can be a little awkward to take photos with your phone during sacrament meeting. Especially after the talks in conference asking us not to text during church. But I figured this was an ox in the mire kind of a situation.

an unfortunate accident

Here's another photo that was waiting in my phone for a blog post (hooray for vacation and time to update my blog). A few weeks ago I was at a movie with Matt and Casey and when we got back into the parking garage we ran into these two girls who couldn't get their car out of the parking space. This Subaru had rolled back into this other car and trapped these two girls into the space next to it. Can you even imagine leaving your car in a parking garage only to come back and see that it has rolled into another vehicle? The dent was pretty big. This photo shows Matt and Casey trying to push the car back to where it came from. They could get it to move, but realized the car would just roll back, and they certainly didn't want to share any liability for it rolling into something else. A bicycle cop showed up on the scene, and I imagine he helped the girls figure something out.

ode to free diet coke

I took this picture on my camera phone awhile ago but my phone has been misbehaving lately so there's a backlog of blog-worthy photos.  Basically the best thing an auditor can hope for during busy season is working at a client with free soda.  This particular client had a huge selection, including Diet Coke with Lime.  Amazing.  I drank quite a few.  It's hard to stay focused on work until about 8pm without some extra help.  The only unfortunate thing about this situation was that during the last week when we were working more normal hours I decided to kick my caffeine dependency.  I had the worst headache for a straight three days.  I tried for a couple, but caved and had some DC to make the pain go away.  But finally I persevered and made it through three excruciating days until the pain subsided.  How can something so delicious and so helpful also be so hurtful to your body?  Next busy season I may just try to get ahold of a black market subscription to Ritalin.

happy easter

Here are some photos from my Easter weekend trip home (well, to my parents' home). I had such a fabulous time. My whole family was in town. Plus, Kirst had three friends from law school up, Lindsay and Mark came, and Dallas and Kristy came too. And Rachel had family stuff for dinner, but came up later for a visit. I can't wait to go back for my week-long visit.
Tell me you love this as much as I do. Please. Anyone?
This is the one that will actually make the cut for the Christmas card. My family is so hott. :)

But this one is my favorite. Kirstin's face could not look more annoyed.

Hooray for twins, especially Easter twins! Pleas note our matching shoes. Good find Kirst.
